Introduction to Heartitude: A Non-Profit Association for Healthcare Professionals’ Well-being
In a context of increasing emotional, organizational, and professional pressure on doctors and healthcare workers, a new independent project was born in Lombardy. Heartitude is a non-profit association dedicated to promoting the well-being, values, and human sustainability of the healthcare profession. As announced by Emilia D’Elia, a cardiologist in hospital service in Bergamo and president of the association, Heartitude aims to provide a cultural and training space for healthcare professionals to enhance their human and technical skills, while managing stress in the ward.
Objectives and Founding Members
Heartitude was founded by a group of healthcare professionals, including Luciana D’Angelo, a cardiologist from Milan, who will serve as vice president. Other founding members include colleagues from Pescara, Ancona, Voghera, as well as Gabriele Sol, a mental coach, and Biancamaria Cavallini, director of mindwork and known for various Tedex and podcasts. The association’s objective is to create a replicable model of education on well-being and values in the healthcare sector, in dialogue with institutions, universities, and third sector entities.
Upcoming Events and Activities
After a successful first edition in 2025, Heartitude has planned an educational and cultural event for 2026, which will be held in Coccaglio (BS) on 12 and 13 February. The event will focus on leadership, team building, and well-being of healthcare professionals, with an interactive and multidisciplinary format. Heartitude intends to contribute to the public debate on the sustainability of the healthcare system through the “care of those who care” approach.
