Unlocking the Future of Digital Health: Emerging Professions and Opportunities

The digital transformation of the healthcare sector is revolutionizing the way services are organized and managed, creating a growing demand for professionals with expertise in both technology and patient care. To address this need, a new orientation kit has been developed as part of the European Care about It project, which showcases 16 emerging digital health professions. This innovative tool was recently presented in Turin, Italy, at a meeting dedicated to career counselors, students, and young people interested in pursuing opportunities in the HealthTech sector.

The Importance of Digital Skills in Healthcare

According to regional councilors for Healthcare, Federico Riboldi, and for Professional Training, Daniela Cameroni, the digital transformation of healthcare requires professionals with skills that combine technological knowledge and attention to patient needs. Initiatives like the European Care about It project play a crucial role in helping young people learn about emerging digital healthcare professions and building the skills required by the healthcare system. As emphasized by the Region of Piedmont, investing in the professionalism of the future means investing in the capacity for innovation, quality, and efficiency of tomorrow’s healthcare.

Exploring Emerging Digital Health Professions

The orientation kit, developed in collaboration with project partners in Italy, Finland, the Netherlands, and Estonia, offers an overview of the skills required by the digital transformation of healthcare and the new employment scenarios emerging in Europe. The kit features 16 professional profiles, providing valuable insights into the skills and expertise needed to succeed in these emerging fields. As noted by Antonio Bosio, general director of Apro Formazione, “Healthcare is changing rapidly thanks to digital, but many young people and adults are still unaware of the professions that are emerging. The Care about It project tries to fill this gap.”

Availability and Future Developments

The orientation kit is currently in the validation phase and is expected to be completed in autumn 2026 with a methodological guide dedicated to its use. Once available, the kit will serve as a valuable resource for career counselors, students, and young people seeking to explore opportunities in the HealthTech sector.
