Rome’s Casa Balla to be a Permanent Museum
The Italian state has made a significant acquisition, purchasing the former Rome residence of renowned Futurist painter Giacomo Balla, as announced by the Italian culture ministry. This iconic property, known as Casa Balla, will now be transformed into a state-run house-museum, open to the public on a permanent basis.
Casa Balla, located on Via Oslavia in the Prati district, has been a treasure trove of artistic expression since Balla lived and worked there from 1929 until his passing in 1958. After the family’s departure in the 1990s, the house remained closed for 30 years, until its reopening in 2021 to mark the 150th anniversary of Balla’s birth.
