Rome’s majestic Baths of Caracalla, a testament to the city’s rich history, will be open to visitors for exclusive night tours on select dates between July and October 2026. This unique opportunity, organized by the special superintendence of Rome, allows visitors to experience the ancient baths complex in a new and enchanting way. The “Notturno Imperiale” visits will include areas normally inaccessible to the public, such as the underground mithraeum, as well as the reflecting pool unveiled at the site two years ago.

According to Daniela Porro, special superintendent of Rome, the evening openings offer a distinct perspective on the Baths of Caracalla, combining the monumental scale of the site with the serene atmosphere of evening light and landscape. This experience invites visitors to slow down and thoughtfully appreciate one of Rome’s most significant archaeological sites. The night tours are scheduled to take place on 16 and 23 July, 2 August, 19 and 26 September, and 15 October, with tickets priced at €8, available for purchase in advance online via the Musei Italiani platform.
Practical Information for Visitors
It’s essential to note that tickets must be purchased in advance, with a maximum of 1,200 admissions permitted per evening. On 26 September, which coincides with European Heritage Days, admission is reduced to €1. The site will open at 19.30, with last entry at 21.45 and visitors required to leave by 22.45.
