Champions League Round of 16 Qualification: Italian Teams’ Fate Sealed
No Italian team has directly qualified for the Champions League round of 16, but Inter, Juventus, and Atalanta have secured a spot in the playoffs as top seeds. Unfortunately, Napoli, the Italian champions, will bid farewell to the major continental tournament after their defeat against Chelsea. The London team’s victory displaced Inter from the top eight, despite their win against Borussia Dortmund.
The list of top eight teams includes Arsenal, Bayern Munich, Barcelona, and Sporting Lisbon, but excludes Paris Saint-Germain and Real Madrid. The latter was beaten by Benfica, who narrowly entered the playoffs thanks to a late goal by goalkeeper Trubin. English teams Liverpool, Manchester City, Tottenham, and Chelsea have also secured their spots in the next round.

Juventus, on the other hand, achieved a goalless draw with Monaco, securing 13th place in the standings and a spot in the playoffs.
