Introduction to the Cammino dei Cappuccini
The Cammino dei Cappuccini, a unique guided route managed directly by the Capuchin Friars Minor, is back for its new season. To celebrate the 800th anniversary of the death of Saint Francis, the Cammino dei Cappuccini has organized three different slow, guided travel experiences that combine outdoor activities, culture, and spirituality. These experiences are designed to provide an authentic connection with the territories crossed, promoting a sense of community and spiritual growth among participants.
Three Guided Proposals
The three proposals are based on the success of last year’s events, which attracted travelers and pilgrims looking for new, safe experiences that guarantee an authentic connection with the local culture and landscape. The routes develop along the Marche Apennines, following ancient paths that connect convents, sanctuaries, and small historic centers through woods, cultivated hills, and internal valleys. This geography, far from large tourist flows, conveys an idea of travel based on slowness and the relationship with the landscape and local communities.
First Proposal: Camerino to Ascoli Piceno
The first proposal, from 20 to 26 April, is a route that winds from Camerino to Ascoli Piceno, covering 160 km in daily stages of 17 to 26 km. Fra Sergio and Ania will accompany a maximum of 30 participants, providing a communal experience that includes shared times, silence, and moments of reflection. The paths connect convents, places of retreat, and small towns, giving an idea of contemporary pilgrimage that goes beyond the religious dimension. The final destination is the Sanctuary of San Serafino in Ascoli Piceno, where the remains of the first Capuchin saint of the Marche rest.
Second Proposal: Couples’ Walk
The second proposal, the Couples’ Walk, leaves on April 29th from the Fonte Avellana monastery and arrives in Cupramontana on May 3rd. For 5 days, ten couples will travel 88 km accompanied by Fra Gianluca, Francesco, and Rosangela, combining the beauty of the landscape and meditation. The departure from the Fonte Avellana monastery introduces a dimension of meditation and silence, while the route crosses cultivated hills, vineyards, and small villages in the Marche hinterland.
Third Proposal: Expert Walkers and Trekking Enthusiasts
The third experience is aimed at expert walkers and trekking enthusiasts, who will be accompanied by the official guides of the Marche Apennines from Fossombrone to Fabriano, scheduled from 29 April to 3 May. The official guide Mattia will lead the group along one of the most evocative stretches of the Camino dei Cappuccini from a naturalistic point of view, crossing gorges, ridges, and woods. This physically demanding but highly rewarding journey allows participants to read the territory through a slow pace and the accompaniment of an expert guide.
Conclusion
The Cammino dei Cappuccini offers a unique opportunity to connect with the local culture, landscape, and spirituality of the Marche region. With its three guided proposals, the Cammino dei Cappuccini provides an authentic and memorable experience for travelers and pilgrims.
