The Easter weekend has proven to be a resounding success for Italian state museums, with a significant increase in visitor numbers compared to the same period last year. According to recent data, the Colosseum area attracted a staggering 81,841 visitors, while the Roman Forum and Palatine drew in an additional 68,000 visitors. The archaeological area of Pompeii also saw a substantial influx of tourists, with 52,812 visitors, and the Pantheon welcomed 49,393 visitors. The Uffizi Galleries, meanwhile, recorded 33,911 visitors.
Notable Increases in Visitor Numbers
The total number of visitors to state museums, archaeological parks, and other cultural institutions over the Easter weekend reached an impressive 750,000. This represents a 9% increase from the previous year, with 57,000 more visitors than in 2023. Other notable destinations included the Royal Palace of Caserta, which drew in 27,221 visitors, and the Accademia Gallery in Florence, which attracted 24,402 visitors. The Royal Museums of Turin and Castel Sant’Angelo also saw significant numbers, with 21,892 and 17,917 visitors, respectively.
