Experience the Magic of New York City’s Botanical Metropolis
The New York Botanical Garden in the Bronx is once again hosting its annual Holiday Train Show, a beloved tradition that has been enchanting visitors for 34 years. This year’s exhibit features a miniature New York City made entirely out of plant materials, including tree bark, leaves, and other natural elements. The result is a breathtakingly detailed and intricate model of the city’s iconic skyline, complete with famous landmarks like the Empire State Building, the Chrysler Building, and the Statue of Liberty.
A City Made of Plants

The walls of the Empire State Building, for example, are made from horse chestnut trees, while the top of the Chrysler Building is crafted from palm leaves. Even replicas of structures that no longer exist, such as the original Yankee Stadium and the old Penn Station, are recreated in stunning detail. The exhibit also features models of the One World Trade Center, City Hall, and Grand Central station, all made using bark from a variety of trees.
New Additions to the Exhibit
This year’s Holiday Train Show has been enhanced with two new miniatures: the Delacorte Theater, which hosts the annual “Shakespeare in the Park” event, and a piece of Central Park featuring the Gothic Arch, Belvedere Castle, and the Music Pavilion. The new Delacorte Theater model is a welcome addition to the exhibit, as it has been a staple of New York City’s cultural scene for many years. The Central Park model, meanwhile, is a beautiful representation of one of the city’s most beloved green spaces.
A Festive Atmosphere in New York City

The Christmas tree at Rockefeller Center has already arrived, and will be lit up on December 3.
