Exploring the Evolution of the Automobile: The Automobili Exhibition Project
The National Automobile Museum is proud to present the Automobili exhibition project, a captivating journey that delves into the world of conceptual innovation by French artist Alain Bublex. This comprehensive project explores the automobile as a space, form, and imagination, tracing its evolution from 1802 to the present day. Curated by Chiara Marras, the exhibition brings together a diverse range of works, including 44 pieces that combine texts and images to construct a history of the automobile, often highlighting lesser-known models.
A Story of Innovation and Design
The project began with a commission from the Fondation Cartier pour l’art contemporain, which entrusted Bublex with writing a text on the history of the automobile and the evolution of its forms from 1802 to today. During this writing process, Bublex also developed the work “A l’abri du vent et de la pluie” (Sheltered from the wind and rain), an installation comprising ten 1:10 scale car models. These sculptures, reduced to their essential forms, do not focus on intricate details but retain the minimal characteristics that make each model recognizable.
