Breaking Down Barriers in Medical Education: Agenas and Co.Ge.APS Sign Landmark Agreement
The Italian healthcare system has taken a significant step forward with the signing of an agreement between Agenas, the National Agency for Regional Health Services, and Co.Ge.APS, the Consortium for the management of health professions. This agreement aims to certify ECM credits, which are essential for the continuous professional training of health professionals. The signing of this agreement has been made possible by the efforts of Agenas’ extraordinary commissioner, Americo Cicchetti, and Co.Ge.APS’ president, Roberto Monaco.
A New Era in Continuing Medical Education
The agreement regulates the system of acquisition, archiving, control, management, and processing of data necessary for the certification of training credits. It also establishes the roles of the Consortium and the Agency, regulating the financial aspect and unlocking funds for continuous training provided by the Law. This development is expected to benefit over one and a half million healthcare professionals, who will now have access to a more streamlined and efficient system for updating their skills.
A Collaborative Approach to Medical Education
According to Americo Cicchetti, the agreement “expands the collaboration platform with the federations of the orders also with a view to the evolution of the national medical education program, in the perspective of an increasingly precise evaluation of the effectiveness of the program itself, promoting its continuous improvement.” Roberto Monaco also expressed his satisfaction, stating that the signature “marks a happy ending, but also a new beginning. A happy ending, because it puts an end to a situation that left in uncertainty one and a half million professionals registered in the registers and required, by law and ethics, to update their skills.”
A Bright Future for Healthcare Professionals
The agreement is seen as a significant step forward for the Italian healthcare system, as it will enable healthcare professionals to access continuous training and update their skills in a more efficient and effective manner. This, in turn, is expected to lead to improved patient care and better health outcomes. As the healthcare system continues to evolve, it is essential to have a robust and efficient system in place for continuing medical education. The agreement between Agenas and Co.Ge.APS is a significant step in this direction.
