Convergence: A Global Culinary Event in Copenhagen

For five days, Copenhagen will be the hub of the global gastronomic community, as Danish chef Rasmus Munk opens the doors of his starred restaurant Alchemist to host the ‘Convergence’ event. From January 29 to February 2, 60 of the most influential chefs from around the world will come together to share their culinary expertise and create a unique collaboration. The event’s title, ‘Convergence’, reflects the idea that sharing a culinary language can foster dialogue and connections between people and cultures from all continents.

A Global Gathering of Culinary Experts

Chefs from 26 different countries and six continents will converge in Copenhagen, representing established gastronomic centers like New York, Barcelona, Bangkok, and Tokyo, as well as destinations like Lima, Cape Town, Mumbai, Quito, and Queenstown. This diverse gathering will create a global and varied culinary exchange, with each evening featuring a dozen restaurants and bars presenting their most iconic dishes and cocktails. Dinners will be served alongside Alchemist’s own creations, offering an extraordinary opportunity to experiment with flavors, techniques, and philosophies from every corner of the world.

A Platform for Culinary Innovation and Exchange

Rasmus Munk, the driving force behind the event, aims to share the creativity, knowledge, and resilience of his colleagues in the culinary world with a wider audience. “I see so much creativity, knowledge, and resilience among my colleagues in the culinary world – and to be able to share it with guests at the Alchemist and with a wider audience in Copenhagen is a dream come true,” he says. The event also includes a program of conferences, debates, and activities designed to connect the world’s culinary elite with society, involving not only restaurateurs and chefs but also students, teachers, food producers, and artisans.

Gastronomy as an Artistic Expression

The symposium, open to anyone curious about the future of gastronomy, features a series of talks and conversations under the theme ‘Gastronomy as an artistic expression’. Speakers include renowned chefs like Josh Niland from San Pietro in Sydney, Vicky Cheng from Wing in Hong Kong, and Rasmus Munk himself. The event offers rare access to insights usually limited to the world’s most exclusive cuisines, with tickets available for purchase on the website: billetto.dk.

A Celebration of Culinary Diversity and Excellence

Representing Italy are esteemed chefs Massimiliano Alajmo (Le Calandre), Mauro Uliassi (restaurant of the same name in Senigallia), Franco Pepe (Pepe in Grani), and Jessica Rosval (Al Gatto Verde). The event’s ambition is to become an annual gathering, enriching participants with knowledge and inspiration, and making Alchemist a point of reference for dialogue, collaboration, and cultural exchange between gastronomy, art, and society.
