For Grana Padano, 500 million euros to support the supply chain

Must Read

Introduction to Grana Padano’s Supply Chain

Behind every form of Grana Padano lies a complex supply chain, comprising stables, milk, long lead times, and crucial decisions that do not allow for improvisation. This intricate network is what prompted Banca Monte dei Paschi di Siena and the Protection Consortium to formalize a collaboration agreement. This partnership is backed by a ceiling of 500 million euros, dedicated to supporting the supply chain until 2027. The primary aim is to provide agricultural businesses and consortium dairies with more financial flexibility, guiding them through key steps such as investments, credit access, and maintaining competitiveness without compromising their stability.

Clarification on the Agreement

The scope of this agreement is further clarified by Renato Zaghini, president of the Grana Padano Consortium. He emphasizes the daily efforts of dairies and their need for concrete tools to continue investing. According to Zaghini, the agreement with Banca Monte dei Paschi di Siena, a historically significant banking group for many companies within the Grana Padano Dop supply chain, transforms the quote format into a vital tool. This tool enables the investment of resources in innovation and competitiveness, tailored to the strategies, objectives, and dimensions of each company.

Structured Support for Sustainable Growth

The agreement materializes through a structured set of activities designed to support sustainable growth in production. Central to this are access to credit, specialist consultancy, and a focus on financial culture—a topic often underappreciated but increasingly crucial for the stability of agricultural and processing companies. Monte dei Paschi di Siena has allocated a dedicated fund of 500 million euros, active until December 31, 2027, reserved exclusively for companies within the Grana Padano PDO supply chain. Requests can leverage a priority channel for investigations, coupled with short evaluation times, an aspect that is particularly significant for those planning investments without halting production activities.

Collaboration and Support

«We are proud to initiate this collaboration with the Grana Padano Consortium» comments Dimitri Bianchini, Chief Commercial Officer for businesses and private individuals at MPS. Bianchini highlights the historical bond between the bank and many supply chain companies, underscoring the aim to support producers with financial tools and expertise. This approach seeks to balance industrial vision with territorial knowledge, eschewing shortcuts and easy promises for a more nuanced and supportive strategy.
