Capri Hollywood 2025: Celebrating Excellence in International Cinema
The Board of Artists of Capri Hollywood 2025, chaired by the renowned Anglo-Italian actor Vincent Riotta, has announced the awards for the 30th edition of the festival. This prestigious event honors outstanding international cinema, its authors, and notable performances, as well as the best of Italian cinema. The festival’s mission is to recognize and celebrate the art of filmmaking, and this year’s winners are a testament to the diversity and excellence of the industry.
Awards and Winners
The Capri Award for Film of the Year went to Frankenstein (Netflix), directed by the visionary Guillermo del Toro. Riotta praised the film, stating, “A powerful and imaginative film, which demonstrates how cinema can be both popular and profoundly authorial.” Del Toro’s film also received awards for Capri Visionary 2025, costumes, set design, make-up, and hairstyling. Paul Thomas Anderson was awarded Director of the Year for One Battle After Another, with Leonardo DiCaprio taking home the award for Best Actor for his performance in the same film.
International Recognition
The Capri Award for Best International Film of the Year was given to A Simple Accident, directed by Jafar Panahi, which has also been nominated for an Oscar by France. The film also won the award for Best Screenplay. The award for Best Non-Original Screenplay went to Train Dreams, written by Clint Bentley and Greg Kwedar, who also received the award for Best Cinematography. For Italian cinema, the film of the year award went to Follemente, directed by Paolo Genovese. Mario Martone was awarded Best Director for Fuori. The Best Documentary award went to Under the Clouds, directed by Gianfranco Rosi. The Best TV Series award was given to Sandokan, a Lux Vide-Rai Fiction production. Kathryn Bigelow’s latest film, A House of Dynamite, received awards for editing and sound.
