As the holiday season approaches, Milan’s civic museums are gearing up to welcome visitors from around the world. In a delightful surprise, these museums will remain open on all holidays, with the exception of Christmas and New Year’s Day. However, on these two special days, some exhibitions will still be accessible to the public in the afternoon. According to the official announcements, Palazzo Reale, Pac Padiglione di Arte Contemporanea, and Mudec will open their doors to visitors, offering a unique opportunity to explore the city’s rich cultural heritage.

Palazzo Reale: A Hub of Artistic Expression

At Palazzo Reale, visitors can choose from an array of fascinating exhibitions, including “Leonora Carrington”, “Appiani. Neoclassicism in Milan”, “Art From Inside. Masterpieces revealed between art and science”, and “Man Ray. Forms of light”. These exhibitions showcase the museum’s commitment to promoting artistic innovation and excellence. Exploring Contemporary Indian Art at Pac

The Pac Padiglione di Arte Contemporanea is another prominent cultural institution in Milan, and it will feature the works of contemporary Indian artists in the exhibition “India. Glows and escapes”. Meanwhile, the MUDEC – Museum of Cultures will present the exhibition project “MC Escher. Special Holiday Hours and Exhibitions

In addition to the regular exhibitions, the traditional free Christmas exhibition at Palazzo Marino will be open on December 25, albeit with reduced hours from 2:30 pm to 6:30 pm. The exhibition will feature the Polyptych of Monte San Martino by the Crivelli brothers in the Alessi room. On January 1st and January 6th, the opening hours will be from 9:30 am to 8 pm, while on December 24th and 31st, the closing time will be brought forward to 6 pm. The GAM Gallery of Modern Art will also observe special hours, with the exhibition “Pellizza da Volpedo. The masterpieces” following the closing days of the museum. On December 24 and 31, the gallery will be open from 10 am to 5:30 pm.

Other Cultural Events and Exhibitions

The Fabbrica del Vapore will host various events with different schedules, but on January 1st, the exhibitions “The Big Three of Spain” and “Artificial Beauty” will be open to visitors in the afternoon. The House of Memory will remain open on both Christmas and New Year’s Day, from 2 pm to 6 pm, offering a unique opportunity for visitors to reflect on the city’s history and cultural heritage.
