It was an honor to discuss the wines of the current vintage with 8 producers active in the “Profumi di Lamole” Association. The memory of Isabella, who carefully tends to the iris at the exit of the Parish Church of Lamole (Fi) after the end of the tasting, will remain indelible for me. Yuri, the President of the association, contributes to its prestige with his exceptional wines from Uga. This small, family-run winemaking business is a gem in the panorama of wine excellence in Chianti Classico, resulting from the passion, commitment, and high professionalism of the Fiore family in the field of oenology.

Unveiling the Identity of Lamole through Jurij Fiore’s Wines
Jurij Fiore has found an ideal location in Lamole to showcase the territory’s rich winemaking heritage. The use of typewriter characters on his wine labels adds a touch of mystery, which we won’t delve into. Perhaps he aims to revive the art of magnifying glass craftsmanship. In all seriousness, he graciously provided us with a comprehensive sampling of his production range.

Exploring the Wines of Jurij Fiore
The Upper Valle della Greve Up there in Lamole 2023 is a surprising wine, produced with Chardonnay, old Trebbiano vines, and the original Famoso grape variety from a single vineyard at the “Castello di Lamole”. It features intriguing notes of butter and mango, with a full body, creamy texture, and good length. The Chianti Classico Sonocosi at Lamole 2023 showcases 30 years of passionate knowledge and fine interpretation of the land by Yuri. The wine boasts fragrant red fruit, a tasty flavor profile, and excellent expressiveness.
The Chianti Classico Montefioralle Altolà 2021
The Chianti Classico Tuttosommato 2023 (Cru) is a wine that Yuri describes as a culmination of his best vineyards’ grapes, brought together in a single wine due to the limited harvest of 2023. The result is a discreet and complex wine with creamy, caressing tannins. The Chianti Classico Nonloso 2021 is a pure Sangiovese from a single vineyard in the Lamolese area of “Grospoli”, featuring fruity aromas, notes of cherry, humus, flint, and dark tobacco, with a tense, saline flavor and promising tannins.

More Exceptional Wines from Jurij Fiore
The Chianti Classico Porcacciamiseria 2021 is obtained from a small vineyard planted over 70 years ago, located at approximately 650 meters above sea level, and produced in limited quantities. It features intense fruity hints of cherry and plum, floral notes of violets, and spicy cocoa. The Chianti Classico Point of View 2021 is a wine with a floral profile, notes of dried herbs, and hints of dark cherry, plum, and dark tobacco, showcasing the excellent body and balanced tannins of the Sangiovese grape variety.
Il Chianti Classico Montefioralle Altolà 2021 is a wine obtained from a single vineyard planted over 50 years ago, located in the “Santa Teresa” area at approximately 450 meters above sea level. It features a predominantly Sangiovese base, integrated with other varieties, and is known for its dark fruit flavors, incisive tannins, and lively freshness. The Upper Valley of the Grive Defori comes from a rare and traditional Lamolese vine, Occhiorosso, grown as a sapling in the “Clos de l’Ingenieur”, producing a wine with a fascinating aroma of berries, spicy and tobacco notes, and curious citrus nuances of cedar.
