Lapo Elkann’s Debut at the Ariston: A Night to Remember
Lapo Elkann, also known as Ubaldo Pantani, made a memorable debut at the Ariston, where he seemingly confused the event with Fazio’s Che tempo che Fa, a show where he is a regular guest. Upon meeting the owner of the house, Carlo Conti, Lapo replied, “I’m Carlo Conti” to which Conti responded, “I didn’t recognize you with your glasses, I always cause confusion among you presenters.” Lapo humorously added, “But we are on Rai1, not Nove…”.
A Tribute to Made in Italy
Lapo wore a tricolor suit as a tribute to “Made in Italy. Fashion, food, in this order because if food becomes fashionable we stain ourselves, great music” and “the great Italian geniuses such as Leonardo da Vinci, Guglielmo Marconi, Galileo Galilei and many other airports. We must be proud…”. When asked if he had prepared for Sanremo, Lapo replied, “By and large, I know it’s the 76th edition and considering that you must have been twenty years old at the first edition, congratulations on your 96th birthday, you’re wearing it in a big way”.
A Night of Laughter and Music
Throughout the night, Lapo brought laughter and entertainment to the audience. He mentioned the three big categories of the competition, new proposals, people who have booked via the app, and those who are waiting. When Conti pointed out that there was no one waiting, Lapo continued, “They say 15, so sorry for those 15 who were eliminated last night, the hope that they can have a new chance because life is about taking and getting up”. He also jokingly mentioned The Kolors, “an English band who decided to learn Neapolitan so well”.
A Final Note
As the night came to a close, Lapo gave a round of applause to one of the violinists, saying, “I really wanted to give a round of applause to this lady who plays the instrument I’ve always wanted, the collarbone ukulele.” When asked if he had ever launched an advertisement, Lapo replied, “No, but she threw me”.
