Meloni noted that Salvini’s comments on Russia-Italy relations were similar to those made by Macron on Europe, and she expressed agreement with Macron’s perspective, suggesting that the EU should also engage in dialogue with Russia.
Trentini Case and Venezuelan Relations
Meloni addressed the Trentini case, assuring that the Italian government has been working tirelessly to resolve the situation and will continue to do so until a resolution is reached. She also welcomed the liberation of other Italians and expressed confidence in the signal of pacification sent by the Venezuelan president, which she believes could be an important element in improving relations between Italy and Venezuela.
Safety and Security
Meloni discussed the issue of safety, acknowledging that the years of laxity have been challenging to overcome. While she recognized that progress has been made, she emphasized that the results are not yet sufficient and that the government will need to increase its efforts to guarantee security.
