Revolutionizing Refrigeration: Staf59’s Innovative Approach to Professional Equipment
The recent changes in gas regulations for refrigeration of professional equipment have marked a significant turning point for the industry. Staf59, a leading player in the sector, has seized this opportunity to revamp its entire range, incorporating environmentally friendly solutions. According to Andrea Berardi, Italy Sales Director of Staf59, “The regulations relating to gases for cooling equipment have changed, and we have made the entire range suitable, using gas R290.” This strategic move aligns with the company’s commitment to reducing environmental impact and creating machines that are less invasive for the planet.

Optimized Production Capacities: Horizontal and Vertical Batch Freezers
The update involved a thorough overhaul of the machines’ production structure. Berardi highlights, “We have optimized all production cuts, starting from one tray up to four trays horizontal batch freezers.” The range of vertical batch freezers has also been expanded to cater to the needs of catering services, with solutions that enable the production of “around two kilos, half a tray, up to six trays.” This modularity is designed to meet the diverse needs of artisan workshops and professional kitchens.
Environmental Sustainability and Technical Expertise
The adaptation to the new legislation required significant design efforts. Berardi notes, “The legislation goes precisely in the direction of protecting the environment and being less invasive on our planet, a topic that is close to everyone’s heart.” The technical office played a crucial role in this process, and the outcome has been satisfactory. The company’s commitment to environmental sustainability is reflected in its adoption of low-impact refrigerants like R290.
New EU Regulation on Refrigerant Gases
Regulation (EU) 2024/573 regulates fluorinated greenhouse gases and repeals Regulation (EU) no. 517/2014. The objective is to progressively reduce the environmental impact of refrigeration systems, limiting the use of gases with high climate-altering potential and encouraging the adoption of low-impact refrigerants like R290. The legislation introduces more stringent rules on the marketing, use, and management of gases, orienting the sector towards more sustainable solutions.
The Most Compact Combined Machine for Ice Cream Makers
Particular attention was paid to the model most requested by the market. Berardi explains, “The best-selling machine, the combined one, which produces from two trays per cycle, was revised in display and in mobile, becoming more compact and more responsive to the needs of the ice cream maker.” This intervention improves ergonomics, dimensions, and ease of use, with the aim of extending further improvements to solutions dedicated to those who produce higher volumes.

New Aesthetics and Visual Identity of the Range
In addition to technical and functional aspects, Staf59 has also worked on the image of the machines. Berardi concludes, “We have optimized the silk-screen prints and the aesthetic side to make the range more attractive and offer a pleasant product.” This update strengthens the brand’s identity and prepares the company to face the market 2026 with a completely renewed range.
