Join the Fight Against Cancer: Airc Foundation’s Oranges of Health Initiative Returns
The Airc Foundation’s Oranges of Health initiative is set to return on Saturday, January 24th, with thousands of volunteers and supporters gathering in approximately 3,000 squares and schools across Italy. The event aims to raise funds for cancer research and promote awareness about the importance of prevention through healthy lifestyles. Volunteers will distribute nets of blood oranges, jars of jam, and honey to support this noble cause.
Supporting Independent Research Projects and Scholarships
The donations collected will be allocated to independent research projects and scholarships for around 5,000 researchers working in public institutions across Italy. This investment will focus on developing effective treatments for tumors that are still difficult to treat and exploring new tools and strategies for early diagnosis and prevention. By supporting these research projects, the Airc Foundation contributes to the advancement of cancer research and the training of young researchers.
Airc Foundation’s Contribution to Cancer Research
According to Anna Mondino, the Scientific Director of the Airc Foundation, the organization has invested over 142 million euros in 779 projects and scholarships dedicated to frontier research and the training of young researchers. The foundation’s researchers are working to understand the genetic and metabolic components underlying the onset and progression of tumors and the development of metastases. They are also exploring new diagnostic and therapeutic approaches, including the relevance of molecular targets and how to overcome resistance to established therapies.
Continuing the Fundraising Effort
The fundraising effort will continue in supermarkets starting from February 2nd, with the “Blood Oranges for Research” initiative. Around 60 large-scale retail and organized distribution brands are participating in this initiative, which aims to raise additional funds for cancer research.
