Unveiling the Story of Matteo Messina Denaro’s Capture in “L’invisibile”
The highly anticipated miniseries “L’invisibile” directed by Michele Soavi is set to air on Rai 1 in prime time, with the first two episodes airing on Tuesday, February 3, and the remaining two episodes airing on Wednesday, February 4. The series tells the fictional story of the capture of the notorious mafioso Matteo Messina Denaro, which took place on January 16, three years ago, in Palermo. Ninni Bruschetta plays the role of Matteo Messina Denaro, bringing to life the story of how the well-known boss was finally apprehended.
The Hunt for Matteo Messina Denaro
Colonel Lucio Gambera, played by Lino Guanciale, leads the Carabinieri del Ros team tasked with finding the fugitive boss. The team consists of experienced men, including the loyal marshal Sancho (Massimo De Lorenzo), radio technician Ram (Leo Gassmann), agents Dago (Giacomo Stallone) and Giove (Bernardo Casertano), car driver Nikita (Noemi Brando), and identikit expert Garcia (Roberto Scorza). With only three months to complete the operation, dubbed “Sunset” in honor of a young victim of the boss, the team faces numerous challenges, including a series of failed raids and the suspicion of a mole within their ranks.
Episode Highlights
In Episode 2, Gambera confesses his fears to Sancho, asking him to monitor the team for any signs of an informer. Meanwhile, the team faces personal struggles, including Gambera’s strained relationship with his wife Maria (Levante) and their two children. After a maxi-raid leads to the arrest of several key figures in the boss’s network, Gambera and Sancho must identify the traitor hiding within their team.
The Final Confrontation
In the final episodes, the team faces a series of challenges, including the discovery of the mole, a violent storm that causes an unexpected tragedy, and the difficult task of infiltrating the home of Rosalia (Simona Malato), the boss’s sister. Using the clues they gather, the team reconstructs the boss’s movements and identifies a clinic in Palermo where Messina Denaro would have visited regularly. The operation culminates in a colossal effort involving multiple forces, leading to the moment of truth on the morning of January 16.
