Upcoming Art Exhibitions to Welcome the New Year

As the year 2025 comes to a close and the new year begins, art enthusiasts are in for a treat. Various exhibitions featuring renowned artists, including Antonio Ligabue, Carlo Maratti, and Giovan Battista Bodoni, will be on display in different cities. Exhibitions in Pisa, Parma, Ancona, Rome, and Loreto

In Pisa, the Arsenali Repubblicani will host the exhibition “Antonio Ligabue, the roar of the soul” until May 10th. Curated by Mario Alessandro Fiori, the exhibition features 80 works that showcase the life and career of the great artist, including famous self-portraits and depictions of ferocious animals. Meanwhile, in Parma, the Pilotta Monumental Complex will display “Dialogue with Bodoni” until March 1st, a new diptych by Lorenzo Marini that explores the visual and conceptual comparison between past and future, typography, and contemporary illustration.

In Ancona, the “Francesco Podesti” Civic Art Gallery will feature “Carlo Maratti and engraving” until March 15th, curated by Simonetta Prosperi Valenti Rodinò and Stefano Papetti. The exhibition includes 44 engravings that reveal the breadth of Maratti’s artistic and cultural influence. In Rome, the Gallery of Modern Art will host “GAM 100. A century of municipal gallery 1925-2025” until October 11th, showcasing over 120 works by important artists such as Giacomo Balla, Carlo Carrà, and Giorgio de Chirico.

Additionally, Rome will also feature “The faces of poverty in prison” at the Basilica of Santa Maria in Trastevere from December 27th to January 9th, with photographs taken from the volume by Matteo Pernaselci and Rossana Ruggier. In Loreto, the Bastione Sangallo will host “Let it be done to me as you said” until March 15th, a visual and audio journey into the mystery of the Annunciation, curated by Francesca Coltrinari and directed by Francesco De Melis.
